In the latter part of 2023, tipper trucks commenced the vital task of transporting materials from Kingaroy Quarries' Wattlegrove Quarry to the Tarong power stations. These quarry materials serve a crucial purpose: they are being utilized in the construction of foundations for Stanwell's 300MW battery energy storage system, positioned adjacent to the Tarong power stations.
This energy storage initiative marks a significant milestone in the Southern Renewable Energy Zone, with the 300MW battery serving as the inaugural element of Stanwell's comprehensive energy storage platform. Its establishment is poised to play a pivotal role in facilitating Stanwell's ability to provide firming capacity and enhance the security of the Queensland electricity grid.
